Fifty Meter Beer Project – Harvest, Thresh, & Winnow
Sorry for the long delay in getting this update out – its been a hectic summer and I’ve fallen behind on my video editing schedule (but not the project itself). In this update I discussion how I harvested my grain this year, using 1200+ year-old technology, my attempt (and failure) at two new threshing machines, and my improved winnowing method. At the end of the day I got 6 kg of barley, but will be keeping 0.5 kg for planting next year. With the ~15% weight loss that occurs during malting, I should have just shy of 5 kg of malt to work with this year!
