I was not aware of the one at brewers friend, but by the looks of it, the calculator there uses the same (or very similar) formula to the one I describe in the video.

I expect that the "improved" formula you mention in the video is the same (or at least similar) to the one in the Alternate equation at brewersfriend.com
I've seen there, that I get a substantial difference in the calculated ABV on my stronger beers.
